Sherry Lewkowicz is Senior Director of the Studio Classroom Model at Teaching Lab Studio, where she leads the literacy version of the model in close collaboration with school leaders, educators, coaches, and EdTech leaders. At the heart of the Studio Classroom Model is a simple but ambitious idea: that the right structures and technology can make it genuinely easier for ELA teachers to meet the diverse needs of every learner--building students' knowledge, literacy, and autonomy along the way. In her role, Sherry translates vision into practice, working alongside school partners to design and implement innovative systems that leverage the power of HQIM, EdTech tools, and the science of learning.
Sherry brings close to two decades of experience in literacy education to this work. Prior to her current role, she served as Senior Director of the Writing Pathway, leading the development of a free platform and professional learning to help teachers across content areas embed effective writing instruction into their practice. That work began as a research project led by Dr. Steve Graham, and culminated in a peer-reviewed study published in Reading and Writing in 2026, which found that Writing Pathway students made significantly greater gains in writing quality than controls. Sherry began her career teaching high school English in the NYC DOE; she then was Director of Certification at The Writing Revolution and later a Professional Learning Manager at Quill.org.
Sherry holds an M.A.T. in the Teaching of Secondary English from Brown University. She lives with her son, daughter, and cat in Washington Heights, NYC. She considers herself insatiably curious, with a passion for cognitive science, art, and community.
