About
Kate Baughman is the Founding Principal of KIPP: ALL Middle School in the Bronx, New York, which she helped launch in 2019. Drawing on her background in special education, Kate has worked to build an inclusive, joyful, and academically ambitious school community where all students feel known, valued, and able to experience success.
Kate began her career as a 2005 Teach For America New York City corps member, teaching in a self-contained special education classroom at Community School 211 in the Bronx. She later joined KIPP Academy Middle School, where she spent twelve years as a special education teacher, special education coordinator, and Assistant Principal. Across her career, Kate has remained deeply committed to creating strong systems and developing teachers and leaders so that schools can meet the needs of all learners.
Kate grew up in Columbus, Ohio, and earned her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and Child Studies from Vanderbilt University and her master’s degree in Special Education from Pace University.
When she isn’t leading KIPP: ALL or cheering on the Gators from the sidelines of a flag football game or in the stands at a basketball game, Kate loves traveling with her husband and family, cooking, and exploring new places and restaurants.
