Jessie George is the Principal at Uncommon Brownsville North Middle School, where she has served as school leader since 2023. 

Jessie earned her Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature from the University of Florida with minors in Classics and Education. Later she received her Master’s Degree in Education as a member of the founding class of the Relay Graduate School of Education. After college Jessie began her teaching career at Frank Black Middle school in Houston, Texas as a 6th grade ELA teacher and Teach for America Corps Member. 

She joined Uncommon Schools after attending a Professional Development session fifteen years ago and - since then - has held multiple school-based positions including teacher, Instructional Leader, Lead Lesson Planner, Dean of Curriculum & Instruction, Principal Fellow, and most recently, Principal. Jessie’s strengths lie in teacher development, leading PD, and systems management. 

Jessie believes strongly in leading by example, expertise as the foundation of building trust, and in the humility required to creatively pivot in response to challenges. Outside of work Jessie is an avid gymnastics fan and enjoys traveling and trying new restaurants.
